The balance of power in US Congress has shifted in favor of the Republicans. Republicans gained seats in the Senate. Here in Colorado, Ken Buck (R) lost in a close race with Michael Bennet (D). Republicans are how a majority in the House of Representatives. Cory Gardner (R) will replace Betsy Markey (D) as Representative for District 4 in the U.S. Congress.
Across the country there are many new Governors (mostly Republican), here in Colorado John Hickenlooper (D) will be the new Governor. Other State wide positions went to Republican candidates: Scott Gessler, Secretary of State; Walker Stapleton, State Treasurer; and John Suthers, Attorney General.
Sue Sharkey (R) was elected to represent Colorado District 4 on Board of Regents at Colorado University. Steve Bosley (R) was elected At Large Regent.
In the Colorado Legislature some races are still not called, however Kevin Lundberg will retain his position as State Senator for District 15. In the House, Brian DelGrosso will retain his position as Representative for District 51 and B. J. Nikkel will retain her position as Representative for District 49.
Efforts by "Clear the Bench" were not successful and Martinez, Rice and Bender were all retained as Supreme Court Judges.
